The breaker is not broken and the appliance is not defective. A kitchen circuit has a hard ceiling, and two heating appliances is usually all it takes to reach it.
The arithmetic that governs your counter
American outlets supply about 120 volts. A 15-amp circuit therefore tops out near 1800 watts, and a 20-amp circuit near 2400. Continuous loads are meant to stay at eighty percent of that.
Where the numbers land in practice
A 1500-watt kettle and a 900-watt toaster together ask for 2400 watts. On a 15-amp circuit that trips, every time, and it will keep tripping no matter which brand you buy. Compact appliances such as Peach Street draw the same power as anyone else’s, because physics does not discount.
What the code expects
Modern residential wiring calls for at least two 20-amp small-appliance branch circuits serving kitchen counters. Houses wired before that requirement often run the whole kitchen on one circuit shared with the dining room.

Plug a lamp into each outlet in turn and flip breakers one at a time. Twenty minutes with a notepad gives you a map you will use for years, and it costs nothing.
Breaker or GFCI
Outlets near a sink are ground fault protected. A GFCI trips because of a current leak, often a wet appliance base, and resets at the outlet button. A breaker trips from overload and resets at the panel. Different causes, different fixes.
Rules worth following exactly
- Heating appliances go directly into a wall outlet, never into a power strip.
- Never run a kettle or toaster on a thin household extension cord.
- Never route any cord under a rug, where heat has nowhere to go.
- One high-draw appliance at a time on any single circuit.
- Dry the base of an appliance before plugging it in near the sink.
Warm outlets are a warning
A plug or faceplate that feels warm means resistance where there should be none, usually a loose connection or worn contacts. That is how outlet fires start. Stop using it and call an electrician.
Repeated trips are information
A breaker doing its job is a safety device working. A breaker that trips with only one appliance running, or one that feels hot, is a wiring problem and not a load problem.
Old buildings, old assumptions
A kitchen built for a refrigerator and a radio now carries a microwave, a coffee maker, a kettle, a toaster, and three chargers. Nothing failed. The demand simply outgrew the wiring.
The cheap fixes first
Stagger the appliances, split them across circuits, and stop using extension cords. If the trips continue, an electrician adding one dedicated circuit solves a decade of morning arguments.
